Step into our world!
About us
Our guesthouse in the Balaton Uplands rests in a quiet, untouched cul-de-sac village. We love the region with hills and valleys close to the Lake Balaton. Let us share it with You.
Balatonhenye is a place for your relaxation. We not only offer rooms but also share a beautiful landscape in a friendly local spirit with our care and appreciation.

Flower, fruit tree and vegetable gardens welcome guests, friends and family, reminding us how to live in harmony with our traditions from the past. An outdoor oven complements the kitchen to bake or broil using our ancestors’ methods. The house has a peaceful reading corner with books instead of a TV. Tiled stove in the rooms smoothly works with a modern underfloor heating. We cherish and embrace the past to learn from and lean on it.
We meet and greet our guests in person upon arrival and departure. We believe in healthy social relationships.
On weekends or other holidays, You can count on us if you wish to prepare breakfast, assist with outdoor cooking or arrange transfers to wine tastings (prior arrangement needed). Special services like nature hikes, historic walks or babysitting are available to complement your stay, making the most out of your vacation comfortably with your hosts’ support from the neighbouring part of the building.
We would love to meet You in our special corner of the World!

Rooms & Amenities
The facilities of our guesthouse make it suitable for both short- and long-term relaxation.
History of the house
Every house has its own history.
The legend of the „A Bejárat” guesthouse began more than 150 years ago when it was constructed by a three-generation family for their own use. The builders had more skills but fewer resources than we have today. Thorough design and smart work were indispensable. The house was built to follow their dreams on where the sun would shine with the garden and street view just the way they had desired. Using locally available stones, walls were raised to keep the house cool in the summer and retain warmth when required. For the family, the place was not just a house to sleep in, but it meant their entrance to the whole world.
The house has been through peaceful and happy times as well as great conflicts. Living together is not always easy. Once, siblings even separated their gardens and parts of the house with high fences.
Since then, relationships have settled, and ownerships have been transferred. In a fast-changing world, only the house remained in its place. Although renovated, it still bears the marks of the passing time.
Fortunately, today it is functioning in its original shape, offering a home to its visitors for a welcoming stay.
Its small windows may let in less light, its thick walls may feel unusual, and its rooms may be smaller — but it is preserved to feel as it has always been.

Reviews & Opinions
Balatonhenye
This village is not just a place on the map. Balatonhenye is a living museum that proudly preserves its rich folk architectural heritage. Here, every cobblestone, cellar and house whispers the stories of the past, far away from noises of the modern world, in a peaceful and tranquillity setting.
The village lies 8 kilometres north of Lake Balaton as the crow flies and 11 kilometres by road at the eastern foot of Mount Henye. It is bordered by Köveskál to the south, Monostorapáti to the west, Kapolcs to the north, and Monoszló to the southeast. It can be reached by road: from Lake Balaton via Route 71, turning off at Révfülöp or Zánka, then passing through Köveskál.
This area is one of the most hidden valleys of the Balaton Uplands without any cross-traffic. Even the two dead-end villages Monoszló and Balatonhenye are only directly connected by walking paths.
Burnót Creek arises at the north edge of the village and runs along the main street and passes directly in front of our house. A great place to wash and cool tired feet.
