Step into our world!

About us

Our guesthouse is located in Balatonhenye, a quiet, untouched cul-de-sac village in the Balaton Uplands.
We fell in love with this region and with this house, and as your hosts, we would like to share it with you.

Our home is also the place for your relaxation. We don’t just offer rooms, we always try to give a little more of ourselves, the landscape and the local atmosphere.

We believe that the past should not be demolished and swept aside, but rather embraced and learned from. That is why we built the outdoor oven, where we cook using traditional methods. That is why we furnished the house with books and a reading corner instead of a TV. That is why we kept the tiled stove alongside modern underfloor heating. That is why we plant flowers and fruit trees and grow vegetables — to bring back something from that time.

We also believe in the importance of human connections, which is why we meet our guests personally upon arrival and departure.

On weekends or other holidays, you can count on us as hosts in the neighboring part of the building. If you wish, we can prepare breakfast for you, assist with outdoor cooking, arrange transfers to wine tastings, provide babysitting, or put together a complete program plan to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

We are already looking forward to meeting you!

History of the house

Every house has its own story.

The story of this house began more than 150 years ago, when it was built by a large family for themselves. It was built by people who had greater skills but fewer resources than we have today. That is precisely why they did more thorough work. They built this house exactly where the sun would shine as they liked, with the garden and the street in view just the way they wanted. Using local stone, they built walls that would keep the house cool when needed, but also retain warmth when required. For those who built it, this house and its garden were not just a place to sleep — they were the world itself.

The house has lived through both peaceful, happy days and times of great conflict. There were periods when even siblings separated their gardens and parts of the house with high fences.

Fortunately, today it is once again whole, providing a home to its residents for longer or shorter stays.

Despite several changes of ownership, this house has not fallen victim to the spirit of the age, which often rushes from the present to the future while excluding the past. Even though the world has changed greatly since then and the house has been renovated, it still bears the marks of bygone eras. Its small windows may let in less light, its thick walls may feel unusual, and its rooms may be smaller — but we wanted to preserve it as it was.

Balatonhenye

This village is not just a place on the map, but a living museum that proudly preserves its rich folk architectural heritage. Here, every cobblestone, every cellar, every house whispers the stories of times past, while far from the noise of the modern world, peace and tranquility reign.

Balatonhenye lies 8 kilometers in a straight line, or 11 kilometers by road, north of Lake Balaton, at the eastern foot of Mount Henye. It is bordered by Köveskál to the south, Monostorapáti to the west, Kapolcs to the north, and Monoszló to the southeast. It can only be reached by road: from Lake Balaton via Route 71, turning off at Révfülöp or Zánka, then passing through Köveskál.

This area is one of the most hidden valleys of the Balaton Uplands. There is no through road, and not even the two cul-de-sac villages located here, Monoszló and Balatonhenye, are connected by road.

At the edge of the village rises the Burnót Stream, which flows along its main street and passes directly in front of our house.
